TPS7A8300: BIAS pin

Hi experts,

My customer have 3 circuits that use the TPS7A8300. Each has a VIN of 1.2V, 1.4V, and 1.8V. The BIAS to all of them were connected to 5V. Can they leave the 5V connected to BIAS when VIN is 1.4V and 1.8V, or do they need to disconnect the 5V from the BIAS pin?

Any disadvantages for leaving the BIAS connected to 5V?

Hey Connie,

There are no disadvantages to leaving Vbias connected to 5V for the higher Vin applications. In fact for any applications which have Vin less than ~3.3V using a Vbias>=3.3V will result in improved performance ( specifically dropout and PSRR).

Also just to note, we also have TPS7A83A which is a slightly updated version of TPS7A8300 which also has a better Accuracy specification when using Vbias.
