TPS2559: IC does not turn on, when enable goes high

Part Number: TPS2559

Hey guys,

Switch does not turn on, when enable pin goes high. I tried 3 different boards.

Design is similar to application in datasheet, figure 19.

Enable and fault are connected together to get auto-retry functionality. Series resistor is 100k and capacitor to GND is 1uF. Enable is driven by CPU.

We have only one capacitor on input and output, both are 10uF.

IC is connected to LiFePO4 battery, voltage supply between 2.6 and 3.65V.

Limiting current is set to 4.3A (Rlim = 27k4)

Driver does not start no matter if there is any load on output or open circuit. I checked all connection are OK, not short circuits towards GND, etc.

Power supply was 3.4V. Enable pin had same voltage, 3.4V.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks, Rok

  • Hi Rok,

    1. Try use power supply instead of GPIO.

    2. Try use power supply instead of Vbatt. Or try to improve the Vbatt voltage.

For TI's policy, I will first click resolved button.
