TPS61088-Q1: phase margin

Part Number: TPS61088-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61088

Hello,
I'm designing the COMP network using the datasheet formulas.

After choosing the frequency crossover as reccomended to calculate the value of R5, C5 and C8, how can i calculate the phase margin?

thanks in advance

Damiano

  • Hi Damiano,

Thank you for considering the TPS61088.  Our experts supporting this device is currently on national holidays and they will be back by Oct 10th.  To your question, it is not easy to direct calculate the phase margin unless you are familiar with Bode Plot sketching by the positions of poles and zeros of your system. And, it cannot easily described here in e2e.

My recommendation is, you may use the webench simulation tool by plugging your circuit values into a webench circuit and simulate the loop performance.  Or simply build the circuit and run experiments to measure the loop directly.  After all, we recommend always verify and fine the design by test.  The datasheet formulas just help you to get a good start point.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your reply

    Best regards

  • Hi Damiano,

Thank you tor your kind reply.  There was a typo in my previous msg:  we recommend fine tune the design by test. Sorry if it caused any confusion.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Youhao
