SM74611: 300 mV forward voltage drop @ 70 uA current

Part Number: SM74611

Hi,

I am trying to use this diode for its minimal forward voltage drop. With a 3.3 VDC supply, I am experiencing a 300 mV voltage drop across the diode when circuit is drawing just 70 uA. Can you please illuminate me on why this may be happening?

Thanks,

Sujith

  • Hi Sujith,

Welcome to e2e! Thanks for reaching out to us.

Can you please share the following,

    • The schematic
    • Does the voltage drop reduce with increase in load current ? Have you tested at different load conditions? Can you share your observations
    • Can you share the Anode-Cathode (or Anode to GND and Cathode to GND) Waveforms to understand  the IC behavior.

  • Hi Praveen,

In circuit, I was getting the around 300 mV drop across the diode, so I tested using a simple test circuit as shown below and I get similar result.

The max current draw by my actual circuit is 600mA. The datasheet and the plots in it claim less than 26mV drop under my use case, so I am wondering whether I am using the part incorrectly.

If you want the plots for Anode-GND etc. you requested, I can capture and provide that. Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Sujith
