Hi TI team,

I'm designing a PFC stage for my charger rating of 2.6kW output.

Here I have selected with UCC28180D PFC controller but I want to drive two MOSFET's via any gate drive IC.
now I have option with UCC27531D gate drive IC according to your reference design TIDA-00779 which is for 3.5kW.

will this gate drive will be feasible for my requirement or any other alternate gate drive part to drive Two MOSFET's

May I know the driving voltage high and low for the MOSFETs? we have plenty of dual channel drivers as also good alternatives. My colleague will help you further.

Hello,

IN addition to Wei's comments, depending on your MOSFETs gate charge, gate drive range and dv/dt requirements, you may use a dual-ch driver like UCC27524 or use 2 single-ch drivers like UCC27511, UCC27517 to driver the FETs.

2 single ch IC's will ensure tight layout from driver to FETs and using more board area while dual channel will require fewer components and less board area.

Hi Wei,

Driving gate voltage is 4V, planning for this type of arrangement from reference design(TIDA-00779).

please look into it, suggest me can I go with the same design

Hello,

UCC27531 will not work with a gate drive voltage (VCC/VDD) of 4V. This IC has UVLO of 9V which places your VCC outside of the recommended operating conditions.

Additionally most of our drivers have UVLO around 4.5V therefore requiring minimum of 5V gate drive voltage.
