Hi All
What would be the typical current drain of this device at an input voltage of 17 Vdc?

Hello
I am afraid you will need to provide more information in order to determine the input current.
You will need to know the output voltage and the output current. Also, the switching frequency.
For moderate to high loads, you would use the effciency curves to estimate the input current:
Iin=(Vout*Iout)/(Vin*n) where n = efficiency.
At light loads it is more dificult to estimate; in this case it is best to measure it.
Please see the attached paper for more information.
Thanks
