BQ25504: Can bq25504 manage the battery to supply power to the load for several months when there is no energy input but the battery power is sufficient?

Part Number: BQ25504

1. Can  bq25504 manage the battery to supply power to the load for several months when there is no energy input but the battery power is sufficient?

2. How to start bq25504?Is it necessary to input DC voltage to Vin_DC?

3. I also want to know the quiescent current and leakage current of bq25504 in different modes.

  • HI Yuqin,

Regarding 1, yes.  The BQ25504 chip is powered from VSTOR once VSTOR=VBAT>1.9V.  I recommend using the spreadsheet design example to compute solar panel power and battery size for you load.  It is set up for a week but you can modify it for longer time periods.

Regarding 2, when VSTOR<1.9V, VIN_DC needs at least 600mV to enter cold start.  Once VSTOR=VBAT>1.9V, VIN_DC can drop to about 100mV but you still need enough total input power to meet the output power needs.

Regarding 3, the quiescent and leakage currents from the d/s are shown below.

    Regards,
