BQ76920EVM: REG1 and REG2 always ouput 0V

Part Number: BQ76920EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ76952, BQ76942

hi

1. Does the BREG output automaticly when the chip connect to the battery? Do I need to set register?

2. I have set the REG12 Config as 0xdd by the bqStudio, but the REG1 and REG2 is still 0V. Is it because the BREG ouput 0V?

  • Hi Tan,

The question seems to apply to the BQ76952 and BQ76942 EVMs due to the feature names, I have answered in that way.

    1. BREG must also be enabled in configuration, yes

    2. Yes, you have REG1 and REG2 configured, but must also configure REG0.  See the technical reference manual  section 13.3.2.3, Settings:Configuration:REG0 Config.  Set the value to 0x01 to enable BREG if using the NPN.  If you are providing REGIN from an external supply you do not need the enable.
