I have a boost converter design using TPS61087 to generate 12 V from a 5V input. Maximum current is about 750ma. If I start up at a 300ma load the circuit is stable, but if I apply a larger current load at startup the converter oscillates and does not regulate. If I start at a low load it reaches stability then increase the load it remains stable. I observe a voltage oscillation of 1- 4 khz and ~ 1.7V P-P when started at high load but the circuit remains stable if started at low load then changed to a high load. I have tried increasing the SS capacitor value from 0.1uF to 10uF with no effect. It is operating in the 1.2 MHz range.
