BQ24232: bq24232

Part Number: BQ24232

Hi Sir,

For BQ24232, from the datasheet it seems like the temperature sensing for this charger IC is limited to 0 – 50 degC and could not be further trim down to meet 0 – 45degC?

May I know if there is any other charger IC which is able to meet 0 – 45degC requirement?

The charger IC would need to have power path management similar to the BQ24232.

Thanks, Ian.

  • Hi Ian,

The BQ2407xT family of devices is a similar device which can be configured to 0C to 45C. See the following image for the difference in features.

  • Hi Anthony,

For the BQ2407T family or the BQ24232 charger,

    • The ISET & ILIMIT will only set the fast charge current and input current from USB / AC port.
    • Is there a limitation of the max current that can be drawn from the battery, in normal battery mode and supplementary mode (with VDC in)?

    Thanks, Ian.

  • Hi Ian,

    To answer your questions

The ISET & ILIMIT will only set the fast charge current and input current from USB / AC port.

ISET will set the fast charge current when the device is in constant current state. This can be done with a 590 Ohm to 3kOhm resistor from ISEt to VSS. It can also be used as a method of monitoring the charge current by measuring the voltage. The voltage at the ISET pin will be proportional to the charge current. More info can be found in the Charge Current Translator section of the datasheet.

The ILIM pin will program the input current limit. This can be done with a 1.07k to 7.5k resistor as long as the ENx pins are configured with EN2 pin high and EN1 pin low.

Is there a limitation of the max current that can be drawn from the battery, in normal battery mode and supplementary mode (with VDC in)?

In supplement mode, the BATFET is completely on and so the supplement current is not regulated. Short circuit protection is built in.
