BQ2057W: Current Regulation phase current calculation

Part Number: BQ2057W
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2057,

I must be missing something with this calculation because I can't get the same results

R(SNS) = V(SNS) / I(O(REG))

In the example R(SNS) = .2 Ohms and I(O(REG)) = .5 A. This would mean that the V(SNS) voltage is 100mV not 125mV.

What am I missing here?

Thanks

  • Hi Parker,

    Welcome to E2E!

It looks like your images didn't upload correctly, for future reference, please ensure that you're uploading images using the "Insert/Edit Media" button.

The example is concerning the BQ2057 and not the BQ2057W which has V(SNS) being 105 mV and 125 mV respectively. As the example shows a BQ2057 configured for 0.5A charging, RSNS being 0.2 Ohms correlates to V(SNS) being within the range of V(SNS) specification for the BQ2057 as shown in the image below.

  • Ah that makes way more sense!

    Thank you so much!
