BQ20Z45-R1_BQEASY-SW: Bq Evaluation Software 0.9.64 with bq20z45r1 and EV2400 Run-Time Error 6

I have installed sluc157a_bqEVSW_0.9.64_installer and EV2400_Support_Components_20110524 from the TI Website. When I open the BQ Evaluation Software I immediately see a "Run-time error '6': Overflow" dialogue box. Once I click OK to acknowledge the box the app quits. I am unable to use it at all.

Please advise.

Hello Ben,

Make sure the gauge isn't in ROM mode when you try to connect to the bqEasy software.

Hi Wyatt:

Thanks for the feedback. The gauge is NOT in ROM mode. I can connect with no issues from my old laptop I have. So this is only happening on the newer laptop. Please advise other suggestions or fixes. Thanks!

Hello Ben,

Did you try running the software when the BQ20Z45-R1 is disconnected? Does it still report the same error?

With the EV disconnected I see no errors and the program opens. Although I do get a lot of pop-ups:

I believe the Run Time Error occurs once I plug in the EV2400 (or EV2300) ... even without the BQ20Z45-R1 connected. I will have to double check that tomorrow when I'm back in the office.

Hello Ben,

If you are using EV2400, then make sure to upgrade the firmware. The firmware updater is available on the EV2400 product page.

Hi Shirish:

Yes, I have already used the updater. After additional digging it appears this error only occurs when the USB hub is plugged into my computer and there are multiple [other] USB devices on the bus. If the EV2400 is the only USB device plugged into my computer then the App works OK. Is there a known issue with enumeration and multiple USB devices connected to the PC when trying to run this App?

Hello Ben,

It is good to know that your issue is resolved.

The TI validation team uses EV2400 through hubs and has not encountered an issue. Maybe the make/model of USB hub matters.

We saw reports of EV2400 returning bad data in some cases but no details. This is the first verified report that the USB hub makes a difference. Thank you for debugging and letting the e2e community know..
