TPS25940-Q1: TPS25940-Q1 reverse car battery protection

I want to implement reverse car battery protection with this part. This is not specified in the datasheet for that part but it is in the datasheet for TPS25942. I am wondering why it is the case ? Also TPS259230-41EVM schematics shows verse battery protection with FET in the input ground path and another FET on the output of the switch , see the link below

so why there is FET on the output of the power switch and is that needed for the reverse battery protection ?
