TPS725: tps72501 for 1.2V

Part Number: TPS725

Hi,

I need a LDO to generate a 1.2V with 200 mA of maximum consumption.
We have been using the TPS72501 to generate 3.3V in others projects. Now i would like to use the same part number.
Could you confirm that the typical application diagram for 1.2V as output? It is not clear to me in the datasheet.

Regards.

  • Hi Eduardo,

The bandgap reference is 1.22V so you can simply tie Vout to the FB pin to generate 1.22V on the output.  The DC tolerance in this case would be the same as the reference voltage.

Ideally 1.22V on the output will work in your application.  If you need exactly 1.2V then you will need a different device (we have plenty).

To get 1.2V exactly with the TPS725 will require adding some components to extend Vout below Vref.  I would not recommend this option unless you really need the TPS725 and you really need 1.2V on the output.

    Thanks,
