TPS2124: Behavior if RILM is outside recommended range

Part Number: TPS2124

Hi Team,

Can you elaborate on what would happen if a resistor value outside of the 46kOhm – 137kOhm range was used for RILM?

For example if a resistor <46kOhm was used would the device still protect overcurrent but be limited to 2.5A? And if a value >137kOhm was used would it still protect at 1A typ?

Thanks!

  • Hi Sal,

We do not spec the current limit outside the range in the datasheet. The device will not necessarily clamp to the edge current limits as you have suggested. Higher current limit resistors can result in a situation where the device does not turn on and a resistance less than 1kOhm will results in a ILIM of 2.5A +- 1A.

We do not recommend using the device with resistors outside this range and do not spec performance here.
