Hi All,

I was wondering if a fuse was mandatory on a PoE, PoE+ or High PoE output port.

Indeed on the TPS23880EVM-008, there's a fuse on each PoE outputs while on the TPS23881EVM-008  there's no fuse.

Do i need to add fuse in order to be compliant to the IEC62368-3.

    Hi Gregory,

    Thanks for the question! The fuse is NOT mandatory for the PSE function correctly and is a system level design decision on whether that system needs UL certification or not. A PSE system typically adds the fuse to be UL certified without going through the testing. If the fuse is not included, there will need some testing to get UL certified. Thanks!
