TPS54540: TPS54540 vs TPS54540B

Part Number: TPS54540
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54340B, TPS54340,

Hi Team,

My customer would like to know the difference between TPS54540 and TPS54540B(TPS54340 and TPS54340B).

Could you tell me the differences?

Regards,

Takashi Onawa

  • Hi Takashi-san,

Please find the documents for the difference between the B and non-B version of the part.

    Thanks

    -Arief

  • Hi Arief-san,

Thanks for your prompt response on this.

I understood the differences. Sorry I have additional questions.

    1. Non B parts are NRND status now though, do you have EOL plan for these parts in near future? If possible they want to use non-B version continuously.

Also, What are the disadvantages of continuing to use the Non-B version?

    2. The main difference between them are "Poly-Imide (PI) coat" though,  What are the benefits of having this coat (e.g. increased reliability, if any)?

    Regards,

    Takashi Onawa

  • Hi Takashi-san,

    1) Currently we do not have a plan to EOL for the non-B parts.

    2) The polyimide coat addition is more of an improvement in TI manufacturing process. Therefore the biggest impact is the lmproved OVP circuit in the "B" version of the part. If the customer have not seen an issue in their application then they can continue using the non-B version.

Otherwise for new design, we recommend to use the B version

    Thanks

    -Arief
