TPS55340-Q1: output pre-bias conditions and embedded dynamic ESD protection

Hello,

my customer wants me to confirm that TPS55340-Q1 have no sort of pre-bias limitations that would prevent startup.

If I have some voltage on the output of TPS55340-Q1, will it start correctly?

I also want to use LMR33630-Q1 and TPS6281320-Q1 in my project.

And my custumer wants me to confirm that all three ICs have no sort of dynamic ESD circuitry on Vin pin or other pins.

I haven't find any information about dynamic ESD circuitry in tdatasheets.

Could you confirm that there is no such type of circuitry in these ICs, please?

Hi Ivan,

The TPS55340 is using a diode as the rectifier, so it will support pre-bias condition at startup. Prebias is only a concern with circuit using sync FET as the rectifier.

Could you also clarify if there is any sort of dynamic ESD protection in TPS55340-Q1?

Hi Ivan,

We have ESD protection on all pins of TPS62813-Q1 to protect the device from the uncertain signals and ESD ratings are given in the datasheet.

thank you for your input!

The reason why I'm asking you about ESD proection is that some IC’s use a fast slew rate to enable their ESD protection circuitry. It has been experienced that IC’s with this structure can falsely trigger the ESD circuitry and the IC can miss-behave.

Please, could you confirm that there is no such issue with TPS55340-Q1, LMR33630-Q1 or TPS62813-Q1.

Hi Ivan,

Similar to Tanvee's response, we have ESD protection on all pins of the LMR33630-Q1 and the ratings are provided in Section 6.2 of the datasheet. These ratings are in accordance with Human-body model per AEC Q100-002 and Charged-Device Model per Q100-011. The provided article gives more information about these device level models.

Is it correct that a fast slew rate is not used to enable ESD protection circuitry of those ICs and there is no any slew rate requirements on the power supply input or enable/inhibit inputs?

Hi Ivan,

ESD protection is for an uncertain signal and signal outside Absolute max ratings. There is no limitation to the slew rate of the TPS62813-Q1 device for enable and inputs and please follow datasheet suggestion to avoid uncertain behavior.

Could you explain in detail what is the application?
