TPS2373: Power loss in TPS2373-3

Part Number: TPS2373

Hi,

May I know if TPS2373-3 is a device which would cause power loss within the chip?

For example, for a BUCK converter chip with MOSFET embedded, we think there's power loss within it due to the MOSFET power loss.  But for a BUCK controller chip with MOSFET connected externally, we treat this is as "No power loss" within the chip since MOSFET is not within the chip.

THanks,

Antony

  • Hello Antony,

Every chip dissipates power, and there is a way to calculate this.

But the TPS2373 does not have power loss like you described. It is a "PoE PD" only, meaning it does not have a PWM controller in it at all.
