BQ25790: How to use this charger IC with USB data

I'm planning to use this IC in an NXP i.MX8 platform. The device has one USB port for charging and data.

How does USB data work with this charger IC BQ25790?

I guess I also need an USB switch IC to disconnect the D+/D- from the charger IC and connect to the application processor.

Hi Pasi,

The charger only access the USB D+/D- lines when power is first applied for up to 2s in order to detect the input power source capability. After that, it returns to HiZ and other devices can use the bus. If you can prevent the other devices from using the D+/D- bus until then, you will not need a USB switch.

Thanks for the answer. The CPU can be unpowered when connecting the USB cable so I will add a USB switch.
