LM5575-Q1: Pin Shortage protection

Part Number: LM5575-Q1

Hi, Team,

If we short the SW pin(14) or Pre pin(15) or IS pin(13) separately to ground before or during its operation, will there be any protection against this kind of shortage?

If not, what kinds of damaged will be happen? Thanks!

  • Hello Wu JW,

I will speak with the engineer responsible for this and get back to you soon. Please expect a 1-2 business day delay in response.

    Regards,

  • Hello Wu,

    1. Shorting SW to GND will cause damage to the internal power MOSFET.

    2. PRE is usually connected to SW. Shorting it to GND may short SW to GND, so back to point 1. Shorting it to GND while it is not connected to SW may result in startup issues and switching issues, since it helps charge up the boot cap.

    3. Shorting IS to GND will cause the IC to lose the current sense measurement and will affect the control loop and switching behavior.

There is no built-in protection against such events.

    Cheers, Denislav
