Hi TI team,

Currently, I use the BQ24172 to design the Battery Charger.

My question is whether I need to add the BQ29700 solution to protect the Battery.

Anson,

It depends on your application and project requirements. The BQ29700 offers some protections that the BQ24172 does not such as battery undervoltage protection to prevent severe discharge. If you are in doubt about what protections you need I would suggest adding BQ29700 into your design.
