BQ25619E: what happen when BQ25619E BATFET Disabled and USB power goes off

Part Number: BQ25619E

Hi,

I am working on a project that will use BQ25619E as the charging IC and use it to charge a LiPo battery using a USB power adapter(5V). So when there is a USB supply then we like to use the entire power from the USB VBUS and don't charge the battery until it is below 3.7V. To make this happen we like to use BATFET Disable feature of the charging IC. But the problem is that when the USB power is turned off while BATFET Disabled the system voltage will also go off with the USB power. Is there any way to turn on BATFET from the BATFET Disable state when the USB power went off before the system voltage going to shutdown?

  • Sajin,

How about using about toggling /CE through hardware or software to prevent unwanted charging rather than using the BATFET disable feature. If you leave the BATFET enabled your battery will be able to supply the system load in the event of adapter removal.

The BATFET disable feature is meant more for longer term storage or shipping conditions.

    Best Regards,

    Ricardo
