Dear Sirs,

I have some questions about the PD class and looking for the answer.

Thanks.

1. My design that using TPS2373-4 now and set PD class as class8, Is it ok to change to class6?

2. After changed to class6, how many watts (max) I will get from PSE? 

3. If the PD class is adjustable for TPS2373-4, what is the difference with TPS2373-3?

4. Did TPS2373-4 support auto class function or not?

    Hello,

    Thank you for your questions. Please find my answers below:

    1. Yes, it is ok if you change the class resistor to Class 6. This means the PD will only request and receive up to 51W in the Class 6 design (instead of 71W in the Class 8 design) .
    2. If the TPS2373 is connected to IEEE 802.3bt PSE, for Class 6 PD, the PSE will send 60W and the PD receive up to 51W at the PD input after 100m of CAT5e cable.
    3. The TPS2373-3 is rated for up to Class 6 (51W) applications whereas the TPS2373-4 is rated for up to Class 8 (71W) applications.
    4. The TPS2373 does not support autoclass but this is supported in our TPS2372 device.
