TPS3422: Button debouncer with TPS3422

Part Number: TPS3422
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65287

Hey there,

I would like to realise a button debouncer with TPS3422 or similar device.

The goal is to take a push button as an input device to enable and disable a buck converter.

I don't want to have a reset timer that turns off my device automatically. Also, I do not want to use TPS65287 for my design.

Is there any other IC I am missing out on?

Thank you very much,

Karim

  • Hi Karim,

I am a little confused with your application.  Do you just want to have a push button to turn on and off your supervisor?  The buck converter has an EN pin.  You can just use a pull up resistor to VDD to turn on the converter.  You can place the push button to the input of the EN pin so that if you assert the push button, the EN pin will be pulled low.  Is this what you are referring to?  I hope I have answered your question.

  • Dear Ben,

thank you for your reply. I missed to add that I want to use a non-latching button.

Otherwise, your solution would obviously work!

Still, it is really weird that such simple thing cannot be done?

  • Hi Karim,

What you have asked is something that we do not have.  The idea that you are proposing requires some kind of latch-based system like an on-off switch type.
