BQ24133: BQ24133 OVP

Part Number: BQ24133

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are following BQ24133 schematic and following the circuitry below, I have a question regarding the OVP 15V setting on this circuit.

The resistors, R6 and R7 sets the limit of the overvoltage protection. It should protect the IC from input overvoltage's at 15V, i am using exactly the same value for R6 and R7 s per recommended. However, in our testing we saw that even if we input voltages beyond 15V, charging is still allowed. My question is that, is it necessary to add the ACFET side by side the RevFET to do the cut-off? However in the circuit above, the ACFET is not indicated but the OVP at 15V is indicated.

Best Regards,
Felix

  • Felix,

Without the ACFET, OVP will not occur as the REVFET has a body diode that will conduct. The caption in Figure 10-5 is misleading and will be addressed in the next revision of the datasheet.

    Best Regards,

    Ricardo
