TPSM41615: RILIM Inquiry

Hello Team,

My Customer is working with TPSM41615 and wanted to know how to calculate RILIM. The datasheet does not show computation. They wanted to know what RILIM value they need to set the current limit as 0.3A,  0.5A, 1.2A or others?

    Is there a reason you are looking at a 15A device like TPSM41615 if you are looking to set current limits as low as 0.3A, 0.5A, 1.2A? Are those example target limits? Maybe we can steer you to a more appropriate device for such low current requirements.

    The TPSM41615 uses the valley current of the inductor ripple current to sense current limit.  This limits how low the current limit can be effective since the minimum possible setting is 1/2 of the inductor ripple current.  While current limits lower than the 11.5A (23 - 50%) listed in Table 7-12 are possible by further reducing Rilim, current limit settings less than 5A would not be recommended.

    For applications needing lower current limits, a lower current module device should be selected.
