TLV702P: How to recommend a 1.8V output LDO to customer

Part Number: TLV702P
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV702

Hi

I would like to ask that customer requires a TLV702xxP series LDO whose output is 1.8V, how could I recommend the portfolio? I saw TLV702P datasheet which said that the output voltage could regulate from 1.2V to 4.8V, does it mean I could recommend any TLV702xxP series LDOs to our customer to gain a 1.8V output? By the way, how to change the output voltage in TLV702P because in the datasheet it does not clarify, thank you.

  • Hi Zirui,

The TLV702P family of LDOs is a fixed output voltage design where the output voltage is set using internal resistor dividers, so it cannot be changed by the customer. The numbers after the family name TLV702 indicate the output voltage, so to get a 1.8V output they simply need to order the TLV70218Pyyy where yyy is the package designator.  For TI LDOs this is the standard way of specifying the output voltage and adjustable devices that use external resistors to set the output will use 01 instead of the voltage.

However, it is important to always check the Package Option Addendum near the end of the datasheet to make sure the output voltage and package option you want is a released option to avoid designing in a device which cannot be ordered.
