TPS2124YFPR -

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2124

As we need to use the TPS2124 for one of the application in the automotive product for the dual input(8V to 16V) & single output, can we use this? if not kindly suggest the alternate with same specification which suits for automotive AEC grade. Also share the switching time between one input supply to another input supply time at different temperature ranges(-40 deg to +85 deg)

  • Harsha,

We don't have an AEC-qualified Automotive power mux which could meet your requirements.

2x Ideal diode would be the best option if  AEC qualification is a requirement.

All of our Automotive ideal diodes are located here

To get a better idea, what is max current that will be sustained, and do you need any other features, like current monitoring for example?

  • Dimitri,

Max current from the 2 input lines of the Supply source is 10A at the input end. at the single ended output side it is given to LDO input & LDO output is of 5V, 0.5A.

we need the input status monitor, to indicate which input supply line is been used among the 2 input (Digital is better, so if its high i can consider IN1 as input & if its low, i can consider IN2 as input).

Even if AEC qualification is not there, can we use this in Automotive? as in the datasheet application it has mentioned that it can be used in Tracking & Telematics. moreover all the specification like temperature, voltages etc.. are matching with respect to automotive standard.

if not, kindly suggest alternate component which meets our requirement for automotive.

You can still use in automotive. I thought you were requiring AECQ100 cert. Not every automotive application needs AEC qualification, so this is a choice by the engineers rather than a requirement.

In that case, you could use TPS2124. My understanding is the LDO input is the only thing loading the power mux, then you will have nominally 0.5A current thru the switch. This is perfectly acceptable application for TPS2124.
