TPS92200:TIDA-050042

Part Number: TPS92200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ77915, , TPS92513

Hi all.

I want to make 6 or 7s litium batteries charger circiut. I need protection and charger circiut.I choosed bq77915 for protection. I wonder that can ı use this design for my charger ? I have to adjust the current.

  • Hi Merve,

Since TPS92200 can only support 30V maximum voltage, for 6s or 7s, you may need to check the maximum forward voltage for your battery string.

  • hi dear,

30V is suitable for me. I want to adjust charge current. can ı do with TPS92200?

  • Hi Merve,
to charge a LiIon cell, it is common to use the constant current, constant voltage method. With the TPS92200 you have the possibility to influence the current flow, but not the end-of-charge voltage. If you want to use the module, you have to adjust the supply voltage of the module to the selected number of cells. With 7S means that 29.4 volts. This gives you only a 0.6 volt safety margin from the maximum supply of the TPS92200. There is no way I would do that.

  • Hi dear, you mean charge overvoltage.

can ı do this with bq77915?

    bq77915 for protection and have like this specitions;

Voltage protection (accuracy ±10 mV for OV, ±18 mV for UV)

    – Overvoltage: 3 V to 4.575 V

    – Undervoltage: 1.2 V to 3 V •

Open cell and open-wire detection (OW) • Current protection

    – Overcurrent discharge 1: –10 mV to –85 mV

    – Overcurrent discharge 2: –20 mV to –170 mV

    – Short-circuit discharge: –40 mV to –340 mV

I think ı just need charge current control at during charge. Am ı right?

  • Hi Merve,

For the charger solution with the TPS92200, this is a cost-optimized solution that can replace the TPS92200 with another LED driver for higher voltage application, for example, TPS92513.
