Hello to Ti support team ,

    I have question according back up timer integrated in bq24600 ,

1. According to SLUS891B page 8 internal 5h safety timer is in range 4.25h<T<5.75h  ,  How set exact timer  ?

2. Is it possible keep charging battery despite to safety timer expire ?

3. According STAT pin is it possible identify that safety timer expire and not other warning occured ?

4. Is it possible disable safety timer or change to 8,10h ?

  • Hi Alex,

    1. This is a non configurable, inbuilt 5 hour safety timer and those are the accuracy limits.
    2. If safety timer expires a fault condition will be indicated, and the converter will be disabled, so charging will stop
      1. Safety timer resets when new charge cycle is initiated under the following conditions
        1. VFB falls below VRECHG triggering the recharge threshold
        2. POR (example: unplug and re-plug input adapter)
        3. Toggling CE pin
    3. All faults will be indicated on STAT pin, but you cannot differentiate between which specific fault it is.
    4. It is not possible to disable the safety timer in this part.
      1. If you want a configurable safety timer you can look at the BQ24610 part, which is similar to BQ24600.
