Hey team I thought this was an interesting question - theoretically you could tie the two outputs of this device together to create a 4A line, correct? What are the practical downsides to doing this?

You cannot tie the outputs of two regulators together for the added current draw, you must use some additional circuitry to make this concept work in practice. You can find plenty of details on paralleling linear regulators in the following documents. Let me know if you need anything else.
