LM43601: Iout(max) at an inverting buck-boost topology

Part Number: LM43601

Hello,

My customer would like to get Vout/Iout(max) = -8V/1A from Vin=12V.

WEBENCH suggests an inverting buck-boost topology using LM43601 as one of solution.

According to LM43601 datasheet, Iout(max) = 1A.

But according to tidu32.pdf says Iout(max) is reduced as compared to the buck topology.

Can LM43601 really support Iout(max)=1A even if at an inverting buck-boost topology?

Best regards,

K.Hirano

  • Hello Kazuhiko,

Your understanding of inverting buck-boost is correct; the max output current of LM43601 will be reduced, therefore it cannot supply full load of 1A.
I would recommend going with the 2-A version, LM43602. The device should cover the conditions mentioned for the application.

    Regards,
    Alejandro
