LM43601: Light load operation with external sync

Part Number: LM43601

Hi,

Good day. I hope you are well.

Our customer wants to know if the external synchronization change the light load operation of LM4360x DCDC devices? For example, does an external sync clock force continuous conduction mode (as it does on some other DCDCs)?

I would appreciate your help on this matter.

Regards,

Cedrick

  • Hi Cedrick,

No, the device will not change. The operating frequency of the device will be the same as the external clock.
We do recommend to connect a resistor to the RT pin regardless if an external clock is used or not. This allows the regulator to continue operating at approximately the same switching frequency if the external clock fails.

    Regards,
