UCC24610: Turning off Synchronous Rectifier completely

Part Number: UCC24610

Hi, if you disable a Synchronous Rectifier, you will still get output through the body diode of the power FET correct?

Does TI make an SR control chip that will shut off the power completely?  To do this I believe it will need the ability drive two power FETs, connected in opposing series.

  • Hi Phil,

UCC24610 is a VDS sense SR controller , that means before it decide to turn on SR FET , it should be some current flow in the body diode . then the VDS can trigger turn on threshold. if two mosfets opposing in series . this structure stop the body diode current . SR will not turn on at its should be turn on interval.

Another concern is: SR will not turn off at zero current . it usually turn off at little positive current . if there is not a body diode path for the residue current, it will charge SR FET coss results in VDS overstress.

    Thanks.
