TPS563210A: How to calculator OCP point?

Part Number: TPS563210A

Hi All,

I want to calculate the real OCP current, but the datasheet only provide the OCL part.

After checking the datasheet, the OCP current will be (IOCL + 1/2*ILripple).

But I wonder how the OCL current is measured?

1-1.Is the OCL current measured by the low side VDS during On state(From datasheet)?

1-2.Or it is measured by high-side and use (Vin - Io * D * ( Rdson ( high-side ) ) =VDS(low side)?

2. If 1-1 is correct, can assume the IOCL is equal to Io*D?

Thank you for your help.

Best Regards

Evan

  • Hi,

TPS563210A is a DCAP2 control devices , that means that the OCP function is using  a cycle-by-cycle valley detect control circuit.

The switch current is monitored during the OFF state by measuring the low-side FET drain to source voltage. This voltage is proportional to the switch current.

You can refer below pic about OCP .

and due to this spec is a fixed value inside . You can check the valley of loading current if can trigger OCP.

And you can get the OCP data by short test (short Vout to GND) to enter hiccup mode and measure the valley current .
