UCC23513: Is the UCC23513 suitable for use as a low side Relay driver?

Part Number: UCC23513

Is the UCC23513 suitable for use as a low side Relay driver?  I have a very high di/dt (60A/50ns) circuit that continues to reset my current low side relay driver circuitry and am looking for a robust solution.

  • Hi, David,

Welcome to e2e, and thanks for your interest in our products!

The UCC23513, along with all our other gate drivers, are designed to drive capacitive loads. So, you would need to use a small MOSFET to drive the input of your relay with the UCC23513. I believe the isolation inside our driver, combined with the external power fet driving the relay, will mitigate the issues you are having.

You could order one of our EVMs, get a small power MOSFET and wire it up pretty quickly to verify it will work in your application.
