TPS274160: Calculating Rcl when used with reverse polarity protection

Part Number: TPS274160

Dear team,

during practical testing we noticed that setting the current limit with Rcl may be influenced by the bypass resistor to the GND diode when using the TPS274160 with reverse polarity protection as shown in the datasheet. Is a correction of the Rcl needed in that case and what will be the correct calculation / procedure?

many thanks

Lutz

  • Hi Lutz,

The device references all its settings to device GND and not board GND. If there is a GND resistor, it will cause a shift of references.

You can change the resistance to account for this shift or you can connect the CL resistance to the device GND and not the board GND and not make any changes to the resistor used.
