UCC27210: Testing with Function generator or micro-controller

Hello,

i would like to know if the gate driver can be operated with the use of a function generator to check rise and fall time, as i have attempted to no avail. or can it only be operated by micro-controller ?

    This device is hardware-controlled, so you do not need an MCU to control it.

    You need to configure the device for the desired operation, and then place a PWM signal on the input, and then you can measure the rise and fall times on the output PWM signal.

    Keep in mind that rise and fall times are load-dependent.

    Yes, you are able to operate the driver with a function generator.  Please ensure that the function generator voltage is switching comfortably through the on and off threshold voltages (Table 7.5 from the datasheet).

    You may also want to configure your function generator in the "High-Z" output setting.

    is the Hi and Li input signals from the function generator.

       fig 2.his is the output of the Ho and Lo from the gate driver.

    In addition to what Aaron posted, verify, at the pins of the IC itself, that you have voltage from VDD to VSS that is within spec of the gate driver (see Recommended Operating Conditions).

    Focus on the LO first. The HO is complicated by the bootstrap capacitor. For more details, please see section 5.2.2 Bootstrap Gate-Drive Technique in this app note.
