REG103: Back driving VOUT with VIN floating

Part Number: REG103

I have a REG103-A with feedback resistors set for for 5V output. Can the device tolerate being back driven with 4 V to 6 V on its Vout pins while its Vin pins are unconnected / floating? The Enable pin is connected to the Vin pin by a 4.75 kohm resistor.

Regards,
Steven

  • Hi Steven,

Due to the age of this device, the datasheet is in a different format than we have for newer LDOs. The maximum voltage rating on the output pin should also be 6V as the FB pin. When Vin is floating, having a 6V on the output pin should have a very low risk of damaging the LDOs.
