TPSM846C24: Parallel Application in Layout design

Part Number: TPSM846C24

Hi Team,

As we know in datasheet, we can useTPSM846C24 in parallel, the schematic also shown in datasheet like below,

My question is, in the slave one layout design, the VS+ / VS- should connect to the same capacitor net with Master, or it can be connect to the close capacitor difference with master?

Thanks!

Kai

  • Kai, you can connect VS+ and VS- to a different capacitor than the main device. As you can see, DIFFO is floating and FB tied to BP3 on the second device. In terms of regulation, only the main device feedback is really setting the overall regulation point.

  • Hi Kris,

Thanks for your reply, it's useful for me.

Can you share your email address or send a mail to me ( kai.lai@ti.com )? Thanks!

I need your help to double check customer schematic is OK or not, especially they use TXC/7X01000005 to create 1 MHz 50%Duty signal.

Here are some others question with design schematic :

    1. Customer use TPSM846C24MOLR*2 , TPSM41615MOVR, TPSM84424MOLR, TPSM84624MOLR in his design, all of their AGND pin do not connect to PGND on the PCB board, am I correct?  The connection is made internal to the device..
    2. About the TPSM846C24 parallel application, Master's AGND & Slave's AGND need connect together? Can customer use different Net name and connect the external components separately?
    3. If we can provide TPSM846C24DEVM-007 EVM layout board file for customer refer, that will be great, they can follow our design in his work.

    Regards,

    Kai Lai

  • Hi ,

I will send you an email shortly.

    1. Correct, for all of these modules, AGND is internally connected to PGND in each module, so do not connect AGND to PGND on the PCB.

    2. Yes, connect the two AGNDs together. These devices will have common signals connected like VSHARE, ISHARE so recommend having this AGND common between paralleled modules.

    3. The EVM is in Altium format. Can the customer use this? Or do they need Gerber files?

    Regards,
    Kris
