Hi,

In BQ27520-G4, the FCE bit in OpConfig B Register is to enable/disable the Fast Resistance scaling. At what condition that it is useful to disable this function?

Hello Dan,

This function should always be enabled, it is useful to stop SOC jumps near EDV.

Is EDV = end of discharge voltage? Could you elaborate how the SOC jumps if the function is disabled? Thanks.

Hello Dan,

Yes EDV is end of discharge voltage.

If the function is disabled the gauge will do less simulations near the end of discharge, this is fine if the load profile is mostly constant for all discharges, but if the load is more dynamic it is helpful to run more simulations as the battery voltages reaches the knee point of the voltage curve.
