Can BQ25887 charge Lifepo4 batteries (3.2 nominal voltage, 2s configuration)? Tks

  • Don,

The lowest value VCELLREG can be configured to is 3.4V per cell. Typically LiFePO4 batteries will have a higher regulation voltage of around 3.6V. Please double check with the battery pack manufacturer on what the battery regulation voltage should be.

Additionally you should adjust VRECHG accordingly via I2C.

This app note describes how to accomplish LiFePO4 on a standalone device using resistor dividers. Effectively you will be doing the same thing but in software via I2C writes.

    Best Regards,

    Ricardo
