UCC28700-Q1: Restart sequence on VS pin Fault

Part Number: UCC28700-Q1

Hello,

We are using UCC28700-Q1 for one of our applications. While simulating a real-time situation I ran into a strange issue and would like to get it answered.

I know from datasheet the IC will turn ON at VDD >= 21V. But if Vin < programmed voltage value (Rs1) [i.e. VS voltage less than RUN threshold, Ivsl < Ivsl(run)] in this case, datasheet and Report SLUA783 says that IC will generate 3 pulses and if fault (Vin UVLO) is detected IC will go into fault protection mode mentioned in 7.3.2 Fault Protection

I have simulated the same in Orcad.

In my simulation, for similar condition IC does generate 3 consecutive pulses and shuts down.  Due to limited simulation time, I don’t know whether IC will restart and generate pulses again.

    • What I don’t understand is, will controller restart itself after some time without resetting the input voltage ? i.e. do IC exhibit hiccup feature?
    • The UVLO reset and restart sequence is mentioned but the exact methodology is not mentioned ( how many clock cycles for reset and or restart events to happen). Can you elaborate on this?
    • In simulation, in this type of fault, VDD is not reset to zero. Is this expected behavior?

I request you to please take this as priority and reply us back soon.

Thanks.
