TPS50601A-SP: TPS50601A-SP Cout calculation question

Part Number: TPS50601A-SP

Hello,

When calculating Cout, (eq.14), the following statement is given: "Transient load response is specified as a 5% change in Vout for a load step of 1A."

Could you clarify how this spec is given? What are the factors to consider for this spec?

In my case, I have a parallel configuration with a total I_out=8A.

Thanks in advance,

Olga Koblents.

  • Actually, the statement in the datasheet is "For this example, the transient load response is specified as a 5% change in VOUT for a load step of 1 A."  This is only an example of the calculation assuming 5% is the application requirement. You would need to calculate the total capacitance needed to support the total load step and then give each of the two converters operating in parallel half of this capacitance at each output.

    Thanks

    Christian
