BQ24040: BQ24040 input will be 10V

Part Number: BQ24040
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24041

If we use BQ24040, and the input will be 10V. But I saw the datasheet showed:

I was confused by the “30V input rating with 6.6V input overvoltage protection”. Why the voltage of overvoltage was lower than input voltage?

  • Hello

The BQ24040 input is rated to 30V absolute max with no damage, this is not and operating condition.  Unit will turn off output and shutdown at 6.6V.  The BQ24041 will shutdown at 7.1V.

Input voltage must be below 6.6V (or 7.1V) for unit to operate.  If 10V volts is applied device is in shutdown.
