TPS92515: TPS92515 with 2MHz operaiton

Hi team,

My customer is looking for a LED driver (non-Auto) which meets below requirements.

Vin : 24V (18Vmin ~ 28Vmax)

Vout : 15V (18Vmax)

Iout : 0.6A (0.9Amax)

fsw : 2MHz

fpwm : 100kHz　

Is TPS92515 with shunt PWM a right solution? Does this device work in this condition with 2MHz switching frequency? If not, could you recommend any device that can work with above requirements?

    Hello Saito,

    The TPS92515 is not a fixed frequency part.  If you are designing for 28V maximum input and 15V minimum output to 18V minimum input and 18V maximum output the frequency range will be quite high.  At 2 MHz, 28V input 15V output the design is near the minimum on-time limitation of the part.

    The harder part of the design is the shunt FET dimming a 2 MHz design that can make sure the minimum on-time is met.  What is the PWM duty cycle range for this design?

    Of the parts we have that can run at 2 MHz the operating range is very limited.  Is there a reason for 2 MHz operation?  Another concern would be current accuracy when shunting and opening the Shunt MOSFET due to making sure the minimum on-time is long enough.  Is there a limitation on inductor value?  It may need to be on the higher end to keep the current ripple percentage low.

    The LED group supports non-automotive parts, they may know of a better solution (we support automotive parts, some have non-automotive options such as the TPS92515).

    Hello Saito,

    It looks like someone moved this back to LPP.  The LED group has some parts that can be looked at but may not work for this either.  The TPS92641 is limited in switching frequency range though is designed for better performance however the LED group supports this and other parts which are also probably limited due the switching frequency, PWM frequency and operating range you are looking at.
