LT1054: LT1054 or other charge pump inverter

Part Number: LT1054

Hello,

Do you know if it's possible to have negative voltage at the input of this kind of component (charge pump inverter) in order to have positive voltage at the output.

Voltage will be at the input -5V for a consumption from 60mA. I try it with LT1054 but without succeed (short circuit)

Thanks for you advice.

  • Hello Michel,

As soon as you apply negative voltage to the input, the device will break as it is not designed for negative voltage.

What you could try is using the -5V on the GND pin and the 0V on the VIN pin (the device does not know which potential is GND, it only compares to the potential at its own GND pin).

If you then configure it as voltage doubler you should get 5V on the output with reference to GND.

Please check especially the startup when all capacitors are discharged, and the shutdown when VIN goes away if nothing strange happens, but normally it should work.
