BQ20Z45-R1: False CFET Trigger

Part Number: BQ20Z45-R1

Team,

Some feedback on the below would be greatly appreciated.

One thing that keeps popping up is a problem with our current battery in the field that uses the bq20z45. We have frequent cases of customers in the field experiencing battery failures caused by false-positive CFETF flag in the permanent failure register PFStatus. The problem is very very similar to what has been reported by other customers in the TI forum and was extensively discussed here: https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/p/718524/2650161#pi320995=9 and https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/718578

Unfortunately in the forum neither the final result of the investigation nor a resolution have been posted,, since the discussion after 1.5 months seemed to have continued in private chats. Could you find out for us what the false-positive CFETF cases were caused by and what we could do to prevent it? Was it finally found to be a bug in the bq20z45 IC?

Regards,

RJ
