Hi Sir,

Would you pls comments if bq24078 can work fine as below battery spec.? thanks.

  1. Capacity:500mAh
  2. Charge Voltage:4.2V
  3. Charge Current: 0.5C 250mAor 0.8C 400mA,(hope full charge time >=1hr)

Pls also kindly suggest below resistor value? thanks.

  1. ISET ?
  2. ILIM ?
  3. TS(0~45 degree C)
  4. TD?

    You can always follow the Typical Application section of the datasheet to see the formulas for configuring the device.

    The ISET and ILIM should be fine with the following settings:

    • Resister at ISET = The closest standard value to 3560-Ohm for 250mA and 2225-Ohm for 400mA
    • Resister at ILIM will depend on the OUT current draw as well. At minimum the current should be set for your charge current + system current. The following are some currents with their resistor values
      • ILIM = 750 mA  = Resistor value is closest standard value of 2146-Ohm
      • ILIM = 1 A         = Resistor value closest to 1610-Ohm

    TD does not require a resistor.

    The TS range cannot be changed to 0-45C with this device. By default, it is 0 - 50C with a 10k NTC. This range can not be shifted with resistors to 0C - 45C. This range is available on the voltage based battery monitoring devices the BQ24072T that has the same configuration you are looking for but with battery tracking VOUT. I've provided the device options for other voltage based temperature monitoring below:

    Please also take a look into the NTC calculator for the configuration of the TS pin for the appropriate device.
